Our keys to success this year is to continue to build upon our success. We
can't be complacent and need to use the Regional experience to prepare for
this year. If our defense plays well behind our pitching staff, we should
be strong. Our offense should provide plenty of run support.
Sullivan North 6-25
2/19/07
After a very disappointing season
last year due to devastating injuries, North is chomping at the bits to
get the 2007 season started. "We are excited about our future. We have
good young talent. lots of good young arms. We should be much better this
year with a young team and young pitching staff," said North skipper Steve
Dixon. Eight starters return, in-cluding our 1 and 2 pitchers.
brandon
morelock will return to
short after missing a majority of last season. he hit 382 in limited time.
North also returns Nick Moore (.341) and Greg Overbay (.351). These were
the three leading hitters from last year. The projected starting lineup
will be matt summey, jr. catcher, greg overbay, senior. 1b, clay colley,
jr. 2b, brandon morelock, sr. ss, brandon black, soph. 3b, nick moore, sr.
lf, jonah arnold, sr. cf, kory morgan, jr, rf. all of these kids were
starters last year.
After missing the majority of the 2006 season we return our top 2
starters. Brandon Morelock, 2.95 era, Matt Summey 0.50 era. in addition 3
sophomores will be starters in Brandon Black, Andrew Glover, and Conner
Johnson. We are expecting a great future for those guys.
We are still young overall. the biggest
thing for us will be getting that mental toughness it takes to win at the
level we expect of our program. Winning is an attitude, it takes a special
toughness and sacrifice that most don't have. Everybody wants to win but
its the people that will not allow themselves to lose that get it done.
That takes a special toughness. 3 out of our last 4 teams had that
toughness. We'll see if the 2007 Raiders have it. Chuckey-Doak

Carter 23-11
1/30/07
Top Returning Players
10th Matthew Parsons
11th Zack Gorman, Kent Garrett
Mark-Allen Bounds 12th grade
4 W, 4 L, 2 Saves ERA 2.86
The Hornets compete in a tough
district and finished just out of the post season last year despite it's
23-11 record. The men in green lost 4 key seniors who will be hard to
replace.
Sr. Mark-Allen Bounds gives the team
solid leadership and he will have to rally the troops as Carter will be
very young this season. Bounds success on the football field should carry
over to the diamond as Jr's Zack Gorman and Kent Garrett will also play
big roles for the Hornets in '07.
In order to be successful this year
the Hornets will have to find a lineup early and be able to play solid
defense. Carter needs to scratch out runs and and do the little things...
if this happens the Carter Hornets just might make a post season trip in
'07.
Fulton 4-20
3/1/07
Fulton lost five experienced seniors
from last year, and lost five other projected starters for the 2007
season. This year's team will be the youngest and most inexperienced team
in the 56-year history of Fulton Baseball. At least three freshmen could
see action in the starting line-up for the Falcons. Fulton's most
experi-enced starter will be senior SS Phillip Bates. Bates played 2B his
sophomore year, & switched to SS last season. He had a .356 batting
average with 2 home runs and 13 RBIs. The Falcons will lean heavily on
Phillip's leadership and experience this year. Fulton's other starting
senior will be outfielder Dustin Parrott. Parrott's defense helped him
earn a starting spot late in the 2006 season. Fulton
will have two junior starters. Jonathan Blair will be penciled in to one
of the outfield spots, while Hunter Cunningham will see action at First
Base. Sophomore Jordan Harbison will take the place behind the plate of
graduated 4-year starter Grant Turner. Harbison saw action in 8 games last
year. Teddy Snyder will occupy the 3rd base position, after serving as a
part-time DH last year. Fulton will expect freshmen to step into the mix
immediately this year. Top freshmen include 1st baseman Dillon Wilker, 2nd
baseman Jonathan Harbison, and outfielder Nick Lethgo.
Pitching will be a primary concern for the Falcons this year. The Falcons
only have two returning pitchers this year. Junior Hunter Cunningham had a
2-2 record last year with 20 strikeouts. Sophomore Teddy Snyder had a 1-3
record with a 5.15 era. Fulton must have some freshmen step-up in this
area in order to give this year's team a chance to compete.
While Fulton has enjoyed success in football and basketball recently, that
success has not transferred to the diamond. Therefore, no one will feel
sorry for the baseball Falcons. This team will need to learn to take baby
steps toward success. The pitching situation will be critical. Fulton MUST
find some guys to pick up the slack in this area. This is a young team,
that will see action against some of the
top AA teams in East Tennessee. The hard knocks that the Falcons may
experience in 2007 hope-fully will lead to better times in the upcoming
years.

Pigeon Forge 26-8
2/5/07
The Pigeon Forge Tigers have made a
few changes after the 2006 Campaign, but look to be strong-er than ever.
Coach Larry Cannon moved to Virginia to follow his son Tyler Cannon who is
a Freshman this year and playing shortstop for the University Of Virginia
Cavaliers. The Tigers lost a total of 7 seniors at the end of last season,
however the Pigeon Forge Baseball Team has a very experienced coaching
staff and is loaded again this year with Junior and Senior leadership. The
Tigers have a lot of
State Playoff experience, and with a very talented Freshman group coming
in this year, it is going to be another exciting season for the Pigeon
Forge Tigers in 2007. We hope to see everyone in Murfreesboro again this
year.
The Pigeon Forge Tigers have several pitchers returning for the 2007
season with the addition of a few newcomers to the program. Bradley
Harveston, Bret Gallihugh, Derrick Metcalf, Michael Aparicio, Mark Isaacs,
Jason Butcher and Trevor Mathews just to name a few.
In 2007 our success depends on our leadership and experience and in being
in "The Big Game" and how our players respond to that kind of pressure. We
realize our strengths and weak-nesses and we must work hard on the little
things that make big things happen. One thing is for sure, and that is
that the Pigeon Forge Tigers have only one goal in mind, and we will be
ready to play! Rutledge 23-6

We return seven outstanding seniors this sea-son. All seven have been full
time or part time starters since their freshman and sophomore seasons. The
Pioneers will lean heavy on their seniors for leadership and production
this season while the younger players gain some game experience. Keys to
success will be great leadership, great pitching, great defense, and
timely hitting. Cumberland Gap 8-15
2/12/07 The Cumberland Gap High
School baseball team is looking forward to putting the 2006 season behind
them and looking forward to 2007. The Panthers finished a disappointing 8
- 15 and they are looking to getting back on the winning side and
contending for a 2AA district champ-ionship. The Panthers return the
majority of
their top players from a year ago. Gerald Branham (Sr. Inf/P) returns and
looks to have a big year in his final season. He led the Panthers on the
mound with 3 wins, 2.68 ERA, and had 37 k's. Sr. Shortstop Corey Womack
returns and was one of the Panthers leading hitters and best fielders last
season. Womack hit .314 last season and will be looked upon to help carry
the offense for the Panthers. Sr. Jeffery Webb will be used mostly as the
utility player pending on who is pitching. Jeffery can play the infield as
well as the outfield. Sr. outfielder Jermey Brooks is an outstanding
leader and will be counted on to provide a spark to the outfield. Other
players who will be looked upon to help the Panthers this season are Jr.
OF Josh Barnett, Jr. C Nick Antuna, Sr. P/OF Chris Millner, and 1B Josh
Baughcum. Coach David Hamilton's 2007 team will be one of the
youngest teams the Panthers have had but his freshmen class is one of the
most talented groups he has had. We are very excited about our young
players and if they are able to contribute like we think they can then we
will be successful in 2007. Our team is anxious to get started and to
bounce back in 2007. |
