2B- Matthew Allen .283  11
SS- Tanner Davis .341  12
3B- Will Phillips .375 11
OF- Josh Rose .396  12
    Brandon Bean .308  11
    Tyler Davis .341  12
    Hayden Browder .333  11

Pitching: Brandon Bean 7-3-1 ERA: 4.68, Will Phillips 4-4 ERA: 2.55, Tracey Beard 3-4 ERA: 4.05, Tyler Davis 4-2 ERA: 3.08. We have all of our pitching back and if they continue to work hard in pre-season and throughout the year, we should be able to match up well with other pitching staffs in our district.
Our keys to success are remaining healthy throughout the year, and staying focused and working together as a team.

Boyd-Buchanan              2/20/07

Our key returning starters include:
(12) Tanner Smith (1b)  He hit .415 last year with 39 hits. He drove in 23 runs and scored 25 himself. He is hard to srike out since he only struck out 2 times the entire year. His junior year was his first year to start. Excellent attitude and will out hustle any body.

(12)Tyler Quarles (RF) Tyler hit .403 last year. He will be a four year starter for the Bucs. He will be our CF this year and has great speed to run down anything hit in either gap. Tyler had 29 hits, drove in 16 runs and scored 22 himself. This guy can play any outfield position or up the middle on the infield.  Ran a 6.98 in the 60 yd dash just this week.

(11) Alex Willoughby (3b)  Alex will start his 3rd year at 3b this year and has solidified himself as one of out top players. He can hit, field and pitch. He may be our best pitcher. Alex hit .320 as a soph. and had 24 hits while driving in 13 runs and scored 20 runs himself.

(11) Matt Gentry (C)  Matt is also a 3rd year starter at his position. Matt hit .341 while driving in 23 runs and collecting 28 hits.  Matt is one of the finest catchers in the area. His pop time this week was consistently 2.03 to 2.14! Matt has put on some muscle this year and should hit for considerable more power.

(10) Taylor Gilley (ss)  Taylor did not start the first half of the year and was basically pushed into the role. He performed admirably and finished the year as a solid fielder and a very good pitcher. Taylor hit .259 as a fresh-man and scored 17 runs while collecting 14 hits. He also drove in 12 runs. I look for him to really take off. His is very fast with great
hands.

(12) Patrick Alway (P)  Patrick is coming off of shoulder surgery and within a few weeks of being completely back. We do not know how he will do in his return, but we expect he will want to prove just how good he can be.

Our top pitchers include the following:
Patrick Alway (12)
Michael Risko (11)
Alex Willoughby (11)
Matt Gentry (11)
Taylor Gilley (10)

Our key to success this year is pitching, plain and simple. If everyone is healthy and we improve as much as we did last year, we should be very competitive. It is important that Mason Rogers is back and healthy.  He can be very
good and could make us very good. We have sev-eral candidates that have the opportunity to step up and fill a few holes on defense and in our offensive lineup. Drayton Hales (11), Chase Kilgore (12), Ryan Jeffcoat (10), Tanner Crook (10), Wynn Gannon (12) and a mix of a few freshmen will  battle for those spots.

McMinn Central  21-13  Sectional            2/28/07

Top Returning Players
Britt Shaw, Pitcher 11
Ty Garrett, CF 12
Ethan Starr, 3rd/P 11
Dylan Coleman, SS/P 10
Mark Rayburn, 2nd 10
Ryan Rayburn, Pitcher 10
Matt Aderhold, Pitcher 10
Seth Walker, Catcher 10
Shane Moses, LF 10

Britt Shaw - Junior who is the leader of our team. When he is on the mound we can win
Ryan Rayburn - Sophomore who needs to step up and be our number 2.
Ethan Starr - Junior who also needs to step up on the mound.
Matt Aderhold - Sophomore who has the ability to be a number 1.
The key for the Chargers is the pitching staff. We need to find someone to step up and be no. 2. Our defense we be better with the return of Mark Rayburn at second base. Offensively we need to find a leadoff hitter who will be consistent. This team  returns all of it's
starters from a trip to the sectional last year. For this team to be successful in 2007, we need leadership and a team concept that will take us a long way.

Meigs County  25-11                         3/12/07

Tyler Roberts SS, 12th. Casey Metts 2B, 12th. Corey Clark 3B, 12th. Howie Meadows C, 11th. Tyler Moore DH, 11th. Brandon Watkins Inf-Of, 12th. We return 6 seniors and all will play. How good of a season wehave will depend on how mature the seniors are. Whether or not they can handle last year's success. If the seniors show maturity and display a strong work ethic, and
stay healthy; then we will be competitive.

Josh Garland 8-1 0.63 ERA 84 K. Tyler Roberts 9-1 1.41 ERA 56 K. Corey Clark, Derek Colbaugh round out a senior pitching staff. Dakota McGinnis, Zack Rayl, and Josh Niswonger will also see lots of mound action.

The keys to our season will be to stay healthy and how well we handle last year's success. Also we are replacing our entire outfield and some good offensive numbers left with those guys.

The key to success will be consistency and experience. The team should be solid all the way around: Good hitting, pitching, and defense. Only losing 2 players from last year, experience should be a strength. Last year, the Tigers dropped a few games that they should not have because they did not come to play. The biggest thing this year is to show up for every game and become a consistent team.

Livingston Academy    14-14          3/12/07

We have 5 returning players who are all seniors that will lead us this spring. Joe Reynolds lead us in most hitting categories. Also, returning is our catcher Matt Lee, and two starting pitchers, Griffin Lee and Andrew Neff. Zack Ramsey is our left fielder.

The key to the Wildcats success this year will be the leadership of the seniors. "We should have a solid defense and solid hitting. The big question mark will be our pitching," said skipper Pat Swallows.

Keys to success for this season... Adapting to the new coach and his style of play. Finding more people to pitch, to be a more consistent hitting team, and cut down on errors that will lead to big innings for the opposition. "This is my first year as a head coach and I'm very excited," said coach Juan Clariday. "I am the third head coach for the seniors, so it is another adjustment for them. I am getting to know the kids and they are getting to know me. Our district is very competitive. We got our work cut out for us but we feel like we can compete with them, " added Clariday.

Top Returning Players
Andrew Root 12th OF/P

Andrew Root has a very strong arm and gets a great break on the ball from the outfield. He is also a line drive hitter with good instincts at the plate.

Gunner will be the key to our offense this season batting in the 5th spot.

Kevin Griffin 12th  LHP
Win-Loss 4-5-1 ERA- 2.86 IP-51.3
Kevin is the work horse of the staff. He pitched the biggest games for us last season. He has good movement and great change-up.

Cody Pemberton 11th  LHP
Win-Loss 5-1 ERA- 3.28 IP-32
Cody is very aggressive on the mound. He has a great curveball and good change-up. He also has great location.

Main Focus of improvement for this season:
Must improve defense up the middle with young inexperienced kids, all of our returning kids are on the corners.

Offensive Outlook:
Top 5 hitters return, if we can find a role player for the #2 position we will be very competitive at the AA level.

Keys to the Season:
1. If our top four returning pitchers continue success and middle infielders make routine plays we will be competitive.
2. Our 3-6 hitters will make good contact and should provide the nucleus for a good offense.
3. Strength of the team should be senior leadership and the experience of returning
players at the corners and behind the plate.

Goodpasture  30-11                                  1/2/07

Cougar baseball return 14 players from last year's state tournament squad. Our top two hitters return. Coleman Stroud (Sr) lead the team with a .414 BA, had 8 HR, and 40 RBIs. Ryan Hanson(Sr) hit .402 and will return to the cleanup spot. Logan Darnell(Sr) and Reece Lovell (Sr) are two returning outfield starters. Darnell hit .357 with 4 HR, and Lovell hit .319 with 4 HR. Bennett Smith (Jr) and Tyler Lovell (Jr) return on the infield. Lovell will move from 3B and play SS this year. Smith is our returning catcher from last year. He will catch and play 3B this year. Other players that will contribute this season are Hank Graves(Sr), Lunden Johnson(Sr), Josh Snyder(Sr), Adam Adkins (Jr), and Chris White (Jr).

The Cougars return their top four pitchers from 2006.  Logan Darnell (Sr) is the ace of the staff.  He was 11-3, had a 1.24 ERA, and 129 Ks in 2006. He has signed to play at the University of Kentucky next year. Ross Moffitt (Sr) is our number 2 starter. He was 9-0, had a 1.36 ERA, and 82 Ks.  He has signed to play at Belmont University. The Bobcats will look to get better each day with only 2 seniors returning this year There will be a bunch of sophomores in the everyday lineup on a team that will lack power, as many young teams do. The 'Cats will have to rely on solid defense and will absolutely have to execute the small game. Moving runners over, bunting and baserunning will be the key to scoring runs.

The chief concern for Coach Williamson will be in finding some pitching that can keep his club in the game. "They won't have to win games for us, but we need guys who won't walk people and make opponents put it in play," said Williamson. Chad Norman is the only returning pitcher with experience at the varsity level. The Bobcats will have to find an offensive identity and play hard this year.
"We should be able to play good defense, but we are going to have to get the sophomores ready to play varsity baseball quickly," said Coach Williamson.

Donelson Christian (DCA)   23-10        2/27/07

The 2007 DCA Baseball team will feature two outstanding Senior Athletes. Catcher Tyler Acker recently signed a Baseball Scholarship with Middle Tennessee State University. Tyler broke the DCA single season hits record last year with 51, and also led the team in hitting with a  .468 average. Sharing the catching and pitching duties with Tyler will be senior first basemen Daniel Winningham. Daniel hit .307 his junior year, and was 4-0 on the mound with a 2.66 ERA. Daniel also led the team with 21 base on balls. Daniel has signed a football scholarship with Air Force Academy. Both of these seniors will be counted on to provide leadership for the 2007 club. The third senior on this year’s team is second basemen Justin Tidwell. Justin was “Mr. Clutch” in 2006. Justin may have to  play outfield this year after losing three outfielders to graduation. Justin hit .326 scoring 21 runs, and driving in 17. This year’s team will feature several jr's that started or made major contributions to the success of the 2006 club. These include pitcher Reed Williams (.306,5-1), Shortstop Jeremy Worden (.277, 30 runs scored), Pitcher Dustin Weaver (.292,4-2), Second basemen Chris Pierce (.250, 12 runs scored) pitcher Craig Stem (22 innings pitched, 4.14ERA) and lefty Alex Gray. The 2007 Wildcat Baseball Team will
be fun to watch because of its enthusiastic spirit and its outstanding work ethic.
