Cumberland County 13-25
2/14/07
In 2007, The Cumberland County Jets
Baseball program will see the return of senior Jordan Krismanits (C/P),
juniors Landon Lasalle(C/INF) and Tyler Sherrill (INF), along with
sophomore Brad Wyatt (OF/P). This season the Jets will field a very
untested team with many new faces due to the addition of a new high school
in
Cumberland County. These four varsity returnees must provide a strong
foundation for the Jets to succeed on the field.
The outfield core of the 2007 Jets will see Mark Filley(Sr.), Kyle
Cokkinias(Sr.), Landon Lasalle(Jr.), Brad Wyatt(So.), Michael Baehr (Fr.),
and Justin Davis(Fr.) among others battling for positions.
The infield could feature multiple newcomers as well with Lasalle, and
Cameron Pritchard (Jr.) at 1B. Returner Tyler Sherrill (Jr.) and newcomer
Cody Davenport(Fr.) will compete for 2B with the shortstop position
anchored by Matt Jones(Fr.). Third base could see a combination of players
with Shawn Scott(Jr.) and Anthony
Barnes (Fr.) along with Krismanits in the mix. The Catching duties
for the Jets will be shared by Jordan Krismanits(Sr.), Lasalle, and Daniel
Forte(Fr.).
The pitching staff will be highly untested.
Projected Staff
1. Jordan Krismanits (Sr.)
2. Matt Jones (Fr.)
3. Mark Filley (Sr.)
4. Shawn Scott (So.)
5. Brad Wyatt (So.)
6. Landon Lasalle (Jr.)
7. Cameron Pritchard (Jr.)
8. Bryan Woodlief (Fr.)
9. Tyler Sherrill (Jr.)
The 2007 Jets will have much to prove in 5-AAA with a young and
inexperienced squad. The keys to success for the Jets will be strong
leader-ship by the four returning varsity players along with the ability
of the young players to
develop a team atmosphere and hard work ethic.

2/14/07
The Cherokees return 4 starters from
last season. Two of those are senior outfielders Jon Southerland(cf) and
Brandon Wattenbarger(lf). Jon and Brandon will have to lead a very young
but talented Cherokee squad. The other returnee are (Jr) Will Matthews(SS)
and Sophomore 1B/DH Heath Comerford. Will returns as the teams
leadoff hitter, he has great speed and is a very solid middle infielder.
Comerford was primarily a DH/P last year, but when not pitch-ing he will
be called upon at first base this year, Comerford is a good hitter with
some the ablitiy to hit some balls out of the park.
Returning to the mound for the Cherokees are Jrs Blake Elrod and Bill
Calla. Elrod has good command of the strike zone, and with a 6'6" frame
has the potential to be very good. Calla also pitched many quality innings
out of the bullpen this season and may move into a start-ing roll this
season. Also returning is Sopho-more Heath Comerford, a district starter a
year ago, Heath will also fill that roll this season. Other Returning
pitchers are So. Adam Powers, Jr Zach Schultz, and So. Dakota Falls.
The Key to success for the Cherokees this sea-son is their ability to
grow-up on the baseball field. With only two seniors returning the Tribe
will be playing many inexperienced Sopho-mores and Jrs. This Young Group
is very talen-ted and with some game experience this group will get a lot
better. |

Sr. Will Skinner OF .361 48 Hits 5HR 31 RBI
Sr. Ben Jones 3B .292 35 Hits

Jr. Austin Hurt 7-2 2.48ERA 42 1/3 IP
Sr. Matt Utterback 2-0 4.36ERA 25 2/3 IP
The key ingredients for a seventh straight 7AAA Championship and a fifth
appearance in the AAA State Tournament will rest heavily on a few factors.
The development of the Warrior Pitch-ing Staff, they graduated 23 wins and
nine saves from last year's squad. The return of senior Matt Utterback and
junior Austun Hurt along with five newcomers should help with transition.
Offensively, Riverdale could pencil in the most dangerous offensive team
in school history. However, all players must accept key roles along with
providing a push elsewhere. Defen-sively for the Warriors two of three
starters return in the outfield with senior Brandon Pearl vying to take
over the other position. In the infield only one position remains the same
in Sr. Ben Jones anchoring 3B. 2006 2B Axel Watson makes the move to Ss,
Sr. Chase Johnson comes from behind the plate to take over 2B,
Jr. Austin Hurt and So. Corey Crunk will play 1B and Jr. Brett Lanning
Will be behind the plate. 2007 will be another exciting year for baseball
on The Reservation as the Warriors go after their 7th straight title and a
5th State Tournament still chasing the title of STATE CHAMPIONS.
Lebanon 19-21
1/18/07 The Blue Devils look to
make noise in District 7AAA this year. If they can play good sound
baseball they will be able to compete with anyone in this tough district
this year. The Blue Devils are very young and talented. Once this group
gets some game experience under their belt they will be a tough team to
beat.

The pitching staff should be very strong this year. Lebanon will have a
great mix of pitchers this season. It could be the best pitching staff
Lebanon has seen in many years.

"The key to winning this season, as wlways, will be doing the little
things right on the field," said coach Slone. Siegel

1/30/07 Stars have many shoes to
fill for the 2007 season. Five everyday starters graduated
from last years team. And to make matters worse Junior starting shortstop
Matt Thorne moved to Utah over the summer and left another hole to fill.
Senior outfielder Davis Pearce is the top returning hitter with a .364
average a year ago. The Stars also return experience with four year
starters Wesley Tobitt and Matt Dodrill. Wesley will move from 3rd
to shortstop and Matt continue to be the mainstay behind the plate.
Center field will be roamed by Nick McCauley, who came on strong last year
as a part time starter hitting .323 in 20 starts. First time
starters will likely be Bradford Spence in the outfield, senior Matt
McCloud at second base, junior Taylor Barrett at third base, and senior
Nick Sherrod, junior Matt Cotter, and sophomore Joseph Prather will likely
fight for the remaining starting spots. Sophomores Patrick Schloss and
Neil Robinson could work their way
into the line up with strong pre-season per-formances. The success of the
team will greatly rely on how well the fresh faces in the line-up step up
and provide the offense and defense
necessary to compete in district 7-AAA.
The Stars appear to be in a little better shape on the mound for the 2007
season, with much more experience returning. The top two in era last year
do return and will hopefully be a good one-two punch in district play.
Sophomore Neil Robinson (3-2 1.55 era in 2006) and Senior lefty Derek
Faust (2-4 1.85 era in 2006) will lead the staff. Senior Nick Baldwin (2-0
2.83 era) looks to step into the #3 position. Three year closer Josh
McKenzie will step into a starters role outside of district play and will
offer a strong #4 starter as well as the all important closer inside of
district play. Jr. transfer Jacob Holliday may be a pleasant surprise to
the Stars rotation as he appears to be one of those always needed crafty
lefty's. Others who will add depth to the staff are sophomore John
Ackerman, freshman Carter Watson, and senior Martin Johnson.
Keys to the Season...
1. Pitchers must pitch up to potential.
2. 2 or 3 guys are going to have to step up at the plate & offer
protection for Davis Pearce.
3. New faces in the line up are going to have to play solid defense and
get some timely hits.
4. We must show up ready to play everyday, which didn't happen a year ago.
Oakland 18-17
2/1/07
The 2007 Oakland baseball team will
return just about it's entire line-up from 06. After play-ing many
sophomores and juniors the last two years, experience in big games should
be a plus for this years team. In order for any baseball team to be good,
they must be strong up the middle. Our team returns every starter at those
positions. Catcher - Sr. Drew Fann, one of team's leading hitters in 06
and Jr.Colby Fisher, both saw playing time at that position last year ; SS
- MTSU signee Tyler Burnett has played that position since his freshman
year; 2B - Jr. Seth McConnell played every game there in 06, but will also
have competition from Jr.
Cheshire Rigler; CF - Tennessee signee P.J. Polk, who is one of the best
to play that position at Oakland H.S. The other positions include: RF -
Memphis signee Marcus Barnes, good speed and a strong arm ; LF - still
wide open, whoever hits and plays good defense on a consistent basis will
play there. The corner positions will be 1B - JR. Tennyson Dodd who has a
good glove and a lot of pop in his bat and 3b - Jr. Phillip Parsley, who
can also play in the outfield or Soph. Scott Ward. The DH position like
the LF position is still wide open.
Pitching should be strength on this year's team with: SR. LH Marcus Barnes
over 100K's in 06, JR. LH Brett Wilson 7-2 in 06, SR. RH Tyler Burnett,
SR. RH 6'6" Brennan Stender, JR. RH Cheshire Rigler, JR. LH Andy Morrow,
JR. RH Tennyson Dodd, Soph. LH Taylor Clark, Soph. RH Cody Barrett, Soph.
RH Scott Ward and JR. RH Phillip Parsley
Keys to succcess - 1) Pitching - Both
starters and relievers must be able to give us quality innings. 2) Hitting
- Being able to hit effec-tively with runners in scoring position. 3) De-fense
- Make the routine play on a consistent basis. 4) Be a team that does the
little things well. 5) Team Chemistry - Something all good teams must
have.

Kyle Mullican CF .260 avg 86ab 11
Justin Bouldin RF .305 avg 59ab 11
The Pioneers look to improve on a 3rd place District finish in 06.
Defensively, there will be 3 starters to return to anchor the 07 squad.
Positions to be filled will be 3B,SS,2B,LF and C. These positions will be
filled with juniors who enjoyed success at the JV level. Offensively, the
Pioneers will pencil in the heart of the line-up with returnees and com-plete
the line-up with juniors and seniors.
Top Returning Pitchers

Josh Mullins 32 Innings 2.81 era

Justin Fults 40 Innings 3W-1L 2.80 era 12
The Pioneer pitching staff will return the most varsity experience. It
will be anchored by Senior Derrin Rogers. There will be 3 lefties that
return to solidify the rotation. Darrid Wells(11) and Tyler Gilley(10)
will be in the mix of lefties to stabilize the rotation.
The success of the 07 Pioneers will rest heav-ily on the large class of
Juniors. These play-ers will have to continue to develop in order to
compete in District 7AAA. Learning to play consistent baseball on a
everyday basis will also factor into the success of the Pioneers.

The Blaze look to build on last year's
success as it returns the core group of starters from a year ago. However,
pitching will be a question mark early as the Blaze graduated 3 pitchers
last year, two of which are now pitching in college.
Defensively, the Blaze return its entire start-ing infield from a year ago
and should produce a very good defensive infield. In the outfield, the
Blaze should be solid with 2 players retur-ning who played significant
innings a year ago. The Blaze looked to be improved defensively behind the
plate as well.
Offensively, the Blaze return their top hitters for average, RBI's,
doubles, and homeruns. This Blaze team should be able to score some runs
and produce big innings. As always, hitting with runners in scoring
position will be crit-ical.
On the mound, several players have the ability to produce when given the
ball. The Blaze staff is highly competitive within itself and should
produce good quality innings.

Michael Cox OF - 11
Judah Akers OF - 10
Demond Tubbs - INF - 10
Brandon Farley - INF - 11
Wade Collins - INF - 10
The Cavaliers only have 3 seniors in the entire program, all three are
pitchers. Forced to play young last season, that youth is still present
but a year "smarter and experienced". The speed of the game and shock of
the action should not occur this season. The Cavaliers have many capable
parts that can be plugged in to any
situation...both on offense and defense.
Top Pitchers
Jeremy Hamm - RHP - 12
Tyler Farley - RHP - 12
Corey Harris - LHP - 11
Jerred Griggs - LHP - 11
Chris Davidson - LHP -11
Ben Beasley - RHP - 10
The keys to success for the Cavaliers are:
A) BIG TEAM, little me
B) (like everyone else) Execute on defense
C) Mature to the speed of the game and this season throw more punches.
D) Find "self" on mound as fast as possible
E) Keep the faith during the learning curve |

Red Bank 27-12

The Lions return seven defensive
starters from last season's district 6-AAA Championship team. Seniors
include: Josh Barrett (LHP/1B), Jon Coppinger (SS), Alex Smith (2B),
Dustin Sells (3B), Zach Moore (DH), and Scott Holloway (OF).
Returning juniors: Brandon Ward (LHP/OF), Jake Ledbetter (LHP/OF), Craig
Barker (C).
Tyler Henry is gone to the University of Kentucky and Brandon Siltz is now
pitching for Chattanooga State. However, pitching coach Jared Hensley may
be the happiest guy on campus with the staff he has to work with this
season. Three left-handed starters in Josh Barrett, Brandon Ward, and Jake
Ledbetter are super assets to build a staff around.
For the Lions to be successful this season they must make the routine
plays on defense, pitch well, and provide more offense than they did last
season. Craig Barker shared duties behind the plate last season with Beau
Geren (now at Chatt. St.) and must now assume the everyday duty behind the
dish. Cullen Clabo (Jr.) will
be an addition to the pitching staff, as will Sophomore Hunter Adkins.
Ooltewah 35-9
12/1/07 Competing for starting
positions in the out-field include Ryan Williams, Ryne Shumaker, Alex
Napier and Sean Sanders. Napier is a Calhoun CC signee. All 4 of those
players have excellent speed and good arms. Possible in-fielders include
Zach Smith, Brandon Elrod, Tyler Covington, and Cody Owen. Much of our
offensive power should come from that group.
Covington signed with Gadsden State, and Elrod with Calhoun. Our catcher
will be Doc Crowe, He should add some pop to the line-up as well. Doc has
signed with Hiwassee College.
Seniors Jeremy Woods, Ryan Coburn and Garrett Mitchell will be asked to
pitch a lot of inn-ings for the Owls. All three are different types of
pitchers. Juniors Remo Tinti, Connor Pepping, and Daniel Geren are
talented guys that should add depth. As a whole, we are inexperienced.
We must have our pitchers step up and keep us in games. Possibly 3 new
infielders will start for us. Possibly 2 new outfielders and a new catcher
as well. We will have to bunt, run and do whatever we can to score runs.
Team speed should help, baserunning has got to improve greatly.
*Ryan Coburn and Ryan Williams have signed with Chattagnooga State. |
