| "I was very impressed with CA
this morning as they played all three areas of the game well - pitching,
defense, and hitting. Talyor Hill gave up some hits early which was fine, and the game just got away from us in the 5th and 6th innings. We just didn't help him ourselves defensively nor offensively. Defensively, we did not take care of the ball well, and offensively, we did not make the necessary adjustments. Chad Hunter was a bright spot going 2-3 and scoring our only run. We have to remember that this is new to fifteen out of the eighteen players with us, and when you have Arkansas, Auburn, Baylor, Kentucky, Memphis, MTSU, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Southern Miss, Tennessee, and others sitting behind the backstop watching you along with the outstanding competition, it allows for some jitters. Now that we have our first game under our belts, I expect us to be a bit more relaxed and respond positively against Missouri this afternoon." |

| "I was curious to see who we
would respond this afternoon, and the boys responded very well in the second game as they seemed more relaxed and anxious to get in the win column. Michael Park threw well throwing a complete game while allowing only three hits. Defensively, we did a good job of taking care of the ball as Adam McClain showed excellent range at 2B along with Golden Tate making a great diving catch coming in on a ball in centerfield. Offensively, I thought we swung the bats much better. Blake Forsythe (3-3 w/3 doubles and a rbi) and Logan Darnell (2-3 w/an rbi) came up big for us, and then we were able to pick up an additional four hits in the process. Cody Hawn was also 2-4. As well, we were more aggressive with our base stealing and were able to get some runners in scoring position. All in all, I was very pleased." |

| "We came out today and beat an
undefeated Texas team with sound pitching and hitting. Sonny Gray was fun to
watch throwing 91-94 and pitched three shutout innings allowing only one hit. We were able to give him an early lead putting up six runs in the top of the first as I was very pleased with the approach our hitters exemplified at the plate. Clayton Gant led the game off with a HR and that really set the tone as Zurcher, Hawn, Darnell, Kirby-Jones, and McClain all followed with base-hits. After putting up a single run in the top of second, we answered with eight runs on six hits including a home run from Justin Miller. AJ (Kirby-Jones) and Austin (Bridgewater) were able to get some work in and did a good job to close out the game." |

| "We jumped out quickly scoring
three runs in the top of the first with Justin Miller leading the game off with a single, Chad Hunter reaching on an error, then Cody Hawn following with a home run. However, Oklahoma really slowed down the pace of the game and did a good job of responding each time we put up runs. Ryan Holland battled on the mound in his five innings of work as Oklahoma made it hard for him to get a good rhythm by stepping out of the box often, and we made some mistakes as well. Marcus Barnes did a good coming in relief in the top of the sixth with a two run lead. Logan Darnell had a big game at the plate with a single, double, and triple. Chad Zurcher was solid at shortstop, and Justin and Adam (McClain) turned a nice double play to end the game with the tying and go ahead runs on first and second." |

| "Today's game versus Georgia
was very similar to our game last night against Oklahoma (Blue). We jumped out early in the bottom of the first 3-0 when Justin Miller reached on a base on balls, Blake Forsythe was hit by a pitch, and Cody Hawn followed up with a home run. I thought Logan Darnell threw the ball very well; however, Georgia made some good adjustments hitting the ball where it was pitched. After going up 5-0, Georgia answered with five runs of their own to tie the game. Logan (Darnell) helped himself out by hitting a solo home run to put us back up 6-5. Like Oklahoma, Georgia would answer, and with the game tied 7-7 going into the bottom of the sixth, Justin got us going with a double base then Chad Zurcher followed with a bunt base hit and stolen base. With runners on second and third, Chad Hunter got us a big, two-rbi single to put us up 9-7. Logan got the first batter in the top of the seventh to ground out, then Clayton Gant came in and closed the game out with two strikeouts." |

"Seth Lintz threw the ball very well today. He threw 5 innings allowing only two runs. Thankfully, we swung the bats well too totalling twenty hits for the game. It's hard to signal out any one or two players as seven out of our nine starters had at least one hit. Chad Hunter and Cody Hawn totalled six hits between them. Blake Forsythe, AJ Kirby-Jones, and Chad Zurcher picked up two hits apiece. Golden Tate stole three bases and played a big role in us putting runs on the board. In the sixth, I think the boys relaxed and lost their focus a bit, and I compliment Mississippi for continuing to play the game hard as we were up 14-2. AJ (Kirby-Jones) came in relief, and we did not execute well from a pitching and defensive standpoint. After some hard hit balls, fielding and throwing errors along with three walks, and two hit batters, Mississippi pulled within three runs at 14-11. Clayton Gant came in and did a great job in relief to hold Mississipi in check and then allowing us to put up a couple of insurance runs in the top of the seventh. After a lead off single in the bottom of the inning, Clayton turned up the heat and used an effective slider to strike out the next three batters to end the game." |

| "We came out swinging the bats
well and put three runs on the board in the top of the first. Justin Miller, Chad Zurcher, Chad Hunter, Cody Hawn, AJ Kirby-Jones, and Logan Hostettler all had hits to give us the early 3-0 lead. As well, Golden Tate had two stolen bases, but we were unable to get him across the plate. I thought Oklahoma's pitcher threw well, and he quieted our bats down after that shutting us out the rest of the way. Clayton (Gant) started the game for us and did a good job giving us three plus innings of work. He gave up four runs as well as some hits, but I certainly could not ask for more from Clayton as he was big for us with two saves earlier in the tournament. Marcus Barnes came in relief and got us out of jam but a wild pitch with two outs in the fifth allowed Oklahoma an insurance run to put them up 5-3. After an inning and a third of work, Austin Bridgewater came in and held Oklahama in check with one inning of relief, but it was simply a matter of us not getting enough hits to win the game. We are in great shape pitching-wise for Tuesday and Wednesday, so hopefully, we can get our bats going again as we need two wins to get in the Championship game at this point in time." |

| "It was a game where the
players came out a bit flat, and I know it wasn't intentional as you could feel them trying to get themselves kick started, but we (coaches) anticipated this as day five is the toughest day of the tournament due to it being games eight and nine, fatigue, and the battling of banged up players. Therefore, we (coaches) had to be the vocal ones, and the boys responded well and won a big game for us. Canada came out swinging the sticks early jumping out to a 2-0 lead. We would answer with two of our own, but Canada would respond again with two runs. With Canada up 4-2, Logan Darnell led off the bottom off the fourth with a hit by pitch, and this seemed to spark our players as we would answer with two runs of our own to tie the game at 4-4. Taylor Hill battled for us on the mound, and after Canada put up four runs, he quieted their bats and did exactly what we needed him to do as he was on a limited pitch count. Once Taylor reached his limit, Sonny Gray came in relief and got us a ground ball that allowed for a big double play as well as us putting up a zero in the visitor's column. From that point on, it was a team effort up and down the line-up that contributed to us scoring an additional four runs. If I had to signal out one player, it would be Golden Tate as his energy and performance at the plate really stood out in our (coaches) minds. Once we got the lead, Sonny did his job much like Clayton Gant earlier in the week holding Canada's bats in check and allowing us to pick up our sixth win of the series." |

"Our game against Arizona was simple: win and your in the Championship game; lose and your playing in the Fifth Place game. We decided to start Sonny Gray since he was loose and warm knowing that he would be limited in his work. After a base on balls and a base hit, Arizona would go up 1-0 on a passed ball in the top of the first. We would not answer in the bottom of the inning, and I really thought our approach at the plate was poor for the first four innings. Sonny would do a great job for us throwing four innings and keeping the game at 1-0. In the top of the fifth, Michael Park would come in relief. My biggest concern was the game early had the same feeling as last year's game where our pitching was solid but our bats just couldn't find the hits needed. Due to a position change earlier in the game, Michael (Park) had to remain in the line-up to hit, and he made it look like a good decision. With one-out in the bottom of the fifth and us only having one hit at the time, Michael would hit a 3-2 double to put a much needed runner in scoring position. With Clayton Gant courtesy running, Golden Tate would follow with a base hit to left center putting runners at first and third. Golden (Tate) would then steal second and put us in a position to score two runs on a single. With Justin Miller at the plate, Clayton (Gant) would score on a passed ball with Golden (Tate) coming all the way from second base to score on the errant throw from the catcher to the pitcher covering home. Again, a much needed spark that would result in us scoring five runs in the inning to go up 5-1. Michael (Park) would have a quick sixth inning getting us back in the dugout and up to the plate. With momentum still on our side, we would answer with two additional runs to go up by the final score of 7-1. It was another team effort, and the boys came together to get the job done. It was fun to see the excitement on their faces at the opportunity to play in the Championship game tomorrow night." |

| "I would like to congratulate
Texas. They took advantage of some early hits and miscues on our part along with an excellent pitching performance tonight to win the Sunbelt Championship. Our boys battled, but we just got behind from the start and could not make up the difference with our bats totaling three hits for the game. Austin Bridgewater was our freshest arm and started the game, but after a couple of hits, misplayed balls, and a hit batter, we had to make a change. With the score 4-0 in Texas' favor, Michael Park did an outstanding job of throwing seven innings of one hit, shutout ball in relief. Blake Forsythe (2-3) hit a solo home run in the second inning that made the score 4-1, but from that point on, just as Michael, Texas' pitcher did a great job of silencing our bats. We just could not muster a threat outside of Golden Tate's bunt base hit and stolen base late in the game. I am extremely proud of how these players represented the state of Tennessee. Winning seven out ten games and earning a Runner-up finish in one of the premier tournaments in the country is nothing for them to hangs their heads at as the competition this year was excellent. It was an honor and priviledge for Coach Miller, Coach Ozment, and myself to coach these young men, and we hope they will look back on this event with fond memories as well as be great ambassadors for the TBCA and Team Tennessee." |
