Hall of Fame

Steve Peterson  {Video} - Coach Peterson HOF    Coach Peterson has 604 wins and has produced 55 professional players, 7 All-Americans, 4 Freshman All-Americans and has been named TBCA Coach of the Year in 1992 and 2000. "Pete" has also been named OVC Coach of the Year twice and Sunbelt Coach of the Year on one occasion. The 2007 season will be his 20th at MTSU. Coach Peterson's first college head coaching job was at Roane State Community College.
Mike Turner       {Video} - Coach Turner HOF    Coach Turner finished his career with 648 wins and 247 losses, 20 district titles, 12 region titles, 9 state tourney appear-ances and finished runner-up twice.
Pat Swallows     {Video} - Coach Swallows HOF    Coach Swallows enters his 31 season of coaching HS baseball, most of it at Livingston Academy where he started in 1970. Pat has a 488-219 record and has been named District Coach of the Year 8 times. Perhaps more importantly, Pat was instru-mental in the formation of the TBCA and served as the President from 1991 until 2002 when he moved in to the Executive Director position.
 
College Coach of the Year Awards
Ken Campbell of Walters State CC     Ken led the Senators to the 2006 NJCAA World Series where the Sen's went through the tournament undefeated to become the '06 Champions finishing with a 61-8 record. In seven seasons, Ken is 334-79 with 4 State/Regional titles. The Senators have played in the NJCAA World Series three of the last four years.
Woody Hunt of Cumberland University      Woody led the Bulldogs to the NAIA World Series where Cumberland finished 2nd. A perennial national contender, Cumberland doesn't rebuild, they reload. Coach Hunt has won over 1000 games so far in his 26 year career.
 
 
High School Coach of the Year Awards
Class AAA - Tommy Pharr of Farragut     WHAT A GREAT RECORD TOMMY AS COMPILED AT FARRAGUT IN THE TIME THAT HE HAS BEEN THERE. IN EIGHT YEARS HE HAS WON 8 DISTRICT CHAMPIONSHIPS, 8 REGIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS, 3 STATE RUNNERS UP, 3 STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS AND HAS AN OVERALL RECORD OF 297 WINS AND 57 LOSES FOR A WINNING PERCENTAGE OF .839. IN 2003 HE WAS THE BCA CO-NATIONAL COACH OF THE YEAR.
Class AA - Geno Miller of Covington      IN 4 YEARS AS A HEAD COACH AT COVINGTON, GENO HAS PUT UP SOME GREAT NUMBERS AS WELL. 3 DISTRICT TITLES, 2 REGION TITLES, 1 STATE RUNNER UP AND THE 2006 STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. HIS TEAMS HAVE WON 125 GAMES WITH ONLY 35 LOSES IN HIS 4 YEARS. 
Class A - Jeremy Maddux of McKenzie     AFTER ONE YEAR AS AN ASSISTANT AT BREWTON-PARKER COLLEGE IN MT. VERNON, GA, JEREMY HAS DONE AN OUTSTAND-ING JOB AT MCKENZIE. HE IS JUST STARTING HIS THIRD YEAR THERE BUT HAS COMPILED A RECORD OF 45 WINS AND ONLY 19 LOSES. HIS 2006 TEAM WON THE CLASS A CHAMPIONSHIP IN MURFREESBORO THIS YEAR. 
Division II - Gene Etter of Baylor     IN 32 YEARS AS HEAD COACH AT BAYLOR, HE HAS WON 663 GAMES, 17 REGION CHAMPIONSHIPS, 19 TIMES IN THE FINAL 8 AND 12 TIMES IN THE FINAL FOUR. GENE’S TEAMS HAVE BEEN STATE RUNNER UP AND 2 TIMES THE STATE CHAMPION. HIS 2006 SQUAD WAS VOTED THE NUMBER ONE TEAM IN THE STATE IN ALL CLASSIFICATIONS AND ENDED UP NUMBER 19 IN THE NATION ACCORDING TO SCHOOL SPORTS MAGAZINE.
 
 
Distinguished Service Award
Sherman "Pappy" Crowe of Johnson City, TN  SINCE 1965 MR. CROWE HAS BEEN COACHING AND TEACHING IN THE JOHNSON CITY AREA. HE HAS COACHED BASKETBALL AND BASEBALL AT NORTH JUNIOR HIGH, ELIZABETHTON HIGH SCHOOL, & COCKE COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL. IN 1975 HE BECAME THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE JOHNSON CITY/ WASHINGTON COUNTY BOYS & GIRLS CLUB AND IN 1998 THE DIRECTOR OF THE ELIZABETHTON/ CARTER COUNTY BOYS & GIRLS CLUB. FOR THE PAST 29 YEARS HE HAS COACHED SUMMER SENIOR BASEBALL TRAVELING TEAMS WHERE HIS TEAMS WON 13 DIZZY DEAN SENIOR STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS, AND PLACED 2 IN THE DIZZY DEAN WORLD SERIES 5 TIMES AND 3RD PLACE 5 TIMES. HE WON THE GAYLORD PERRY WORLD SERIES IN 1989 AND RUNNER-UP IN THE PALAMINO WORLD SERIES IN 1992. HE HAS HAD 18 YOUNG MEN SIGN PROFESSIONAL CONTRACTS.

Division III Player of the Year - Daniel Vanaman of Rhodes     DANIEL WAS NAMED ALL SCAC 1ST TEAM WITH A BATTING AVERAGE OF .433, 5 HOMERUNS, 39 RBI AND ONLY 7 K'S. DANIEL PLAYED BASEBALL AT CHRISTIAN BROTHERS HIGH SCHOOL. 
Division III Pitcher of the Year - Robert Flanagan of Rhodes    IN 2006 ROBERT HAD A 10-3 RECORD, 2.89 ERA 71 K'S AND ONLY 15 WALKS. HE WAS NAMED 1ST TEAM ALL SCAC, AND 2006 SCAC PITCHER OF THE YEAR. 
 
 
NCAA Division II Player of the Year Awards
Division II Player of the Year - John Raymond Hehn of Christian Brothers     JOHN PLAYED AT HENRY CO. HIGH SCHOOL. HE LEAD CHRISTIAN BROTHERS WITH A .482 BATTING AVERAGE, 13 HOMERUNS, AND 84 RBI AND A SLUGGING PERCENTAGE OF .835. JOHN RAYMOND WAS NAMED TO THE ABCA ALL-SOUTH CENTRAL REGION 1ST TEAM.
Division II Pitcher of the Year - Brent Gabel of Tusculum     BRENT CONCLUDED HIS SUCCESSFUL TWO YEAR CAREER WITH AN IMPRESSIVE 19-4 RECORD INCLUDING 13-1 IN SOUTH ATLANTIC CONFERENCE GAMES. DURING HIS 2 YEARS, TUSCULUM WON 84 GAMES AND LOST ONLY 31. HE WAS NAMED ALL CONFERENCE AND ALL-SOUTH REGION
 
 
NAIA Player of the Year Awards
NAIA Player of the Year - Victor Alvarez of Cumberland     VICTOR WAS NAMED ALL TRANSOUTH, ALL REGION AND TO THE 2006 NAIA WORLD SERIES TEAM. HE WAS ALSO NAMED THE NAIA WORLD SERIES GOLD GLOVE AWARD WINNER. VICTOR HIT .437 WITH 53 RBI AND 8 HOME RUNS. HE ALSO STOLE 29 OF 33 BASES AND HAD A FIELDING PERCENTAGE OF .928. 
NAIA Pitcher of the Year - Eric Van Slyke of Trevecca     IN 2006, ERIC WAS NAMED 1ST TEAM ALL REGION AND ALL-TRANSOUTH. HE WON 14 GAMES AND ONLY LOST 3. HE HAD A 2.99 ERA WITH 123 STRIKEOUTS AND ONLY 18 WALKS. HE SET THE TREVECCA SCHOOL RECORD FOR WINS WITH 14. 
 
 
NCAA Division I Player of the Year Awards
Division I Player of the Year - Michael McKenry of MTSU     MICHAEL PLAYED HIS HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL AT FARRAGUT HIGH SCHOOL IN KNOXVILLE. MICHAEL HIS .390 WITH 13 HR, 82 HITS, 68 RBI AND SCORED 42 RUNS. HE HAD A FIELDING PERCENTAGE OF .978 AND THREW OUT 41% OF BASE STEALERS. HE SIGNED WITH THE COLORADO ROCKIES. 
Division I Pitcher of the Year - David Price of Vanderbilt     DAVID PLAYED HIS HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL AT BLACKMAN HIGH SCHOOL IN MURFREESBORO. DAVID WAS NAMED 3RD TEAM ALL AMERICAN AND SET A SCHOOL RECORD FOR STRIKEOUTS IN A SINGLE SEASON WITH 155 IN 110 WITH JUST 43 WALKS. HE WAS ONE OF FIVE FINALIST FOR THE GOLDEN SPIKES AWARD GIVEN TO THE TOP PLAYER IN COLLEGE BASEBALL. HE WAS THE ACE OF THE USA NATIONAL TEAM FINISHING 5-1 WITH A 0.20 ERA IN EIGHT STARTS WITH 61 K’S AND ONLY 7 WALKS
 
 
TJCCAA Player of the Year Awards
TJCCAA Co-Player of the Year - Chad Maddox and Justin Pickett of Walters State CC     IN 2006 JUSTIN PICKETT LEAD HIS TEAM TO THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP WITH A BATTING AVERAGE OF .409 AND 18 HOME- RUNS. HE WAS NAMED THE PLAYER OF THE YEAR BY THE TN JUNIOR COLLEGE ASSOCIATION. THE FORMER WHITE HOUSE HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATE SIGNED WITH THE SAN DIEGO PADRES. CHAD MADDOX FROM COOKEVILLE HIGH SCHOOL WAS NAMED THE TN. JUNIOR COLLEGE HITTER OF THE YEAR WITH A BATTING AVERAGE OF .395 AND 25 HOMERUNS. CHAD LEAD THE NATION WITH 90 RBI AND SIGNED TO CONTINUE HIS CAREER AT THE UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE. 
TJCCAA Pitcher of the Year - Bryan Morris of Motlow State CC     A FORMER TULLAHOMA HIGH SCHOOL PLAYER LEAD THE MOTLOW BUCKS WITH A RECORD OF 10 -1 AND A SAVE. HE STRUCK OUT 122 HITTERS AND HAD AN ERA OF 0.82. HE WAS NAMED THE JUNIOR COLLEGE FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR AND ALSO THE PITCHER OF THE YEAR. 
 
 
High School Player of Year Awards
Todd Helton/Pro Line Cap Player of the Year
Kyler Burke of Ooltewah HS     KYLER WAS A FOUR YEAR STARTER FOR OOLTEWAH BATTING CLEANUP AS A FRESHMAN. HIS SENIOR YEAR, HE WAS 9-1 WITH A 1.36 ERA AND 101 STRIKE-OUTS. AT THE PLATE, HE BATTED .459 WITH 20 HOMERUNS, THE MOST OF ANY TENNESSEE HIGH SCHOOL PLAYER SINCE 1998. HE DROVE IN 59 RUNS AND SCORED 55. IN ADDITION TO THAT, HE WAS ALL STATE IN FOOTBALL. KYLER SIGNED A BASEBALL SCHOLARSHIP WITH VAN-DERBILT UNIVERSITY BUT WAS DRAFTED BY THE SAN DIEGO PADRES AS THE 35TH OVERALL PICK. HE PLAYED WITH THE PEORIA PADRES IN ARIZONA AND HELPED HIS TEAM TO THE ARIZONA ROOKIE LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP. 
 
Class AAA Player of the Year
Rob Catapano of Farragut     ROB'S 4 YEAR STATS AT FARRAGUT WERE A 34-3 RECORD, 358 K, AND A 1.106 ERA. AFTER MISSING THE FIRST TWO WEEKS OF THE SEASON HIS SENIOR YEAR WITH AN INJURY HE FINISHED 10-1, STRUCK OUT 114 BATTERS IN 85 INNINGS AND HAD AN ERA OF 1.115. BUT HIS BEST RUN WAS THE POST SEASON WHERE IS WAS 6-0, 105 K'S IN 44 INNINGS, WITH ONLY 10 WALKS, AND AN ERA OF 0.11. 
 
Division II Player of the Year
Charlie Tidwell of Baylor      CHARLIE HAD AN 11-0 RECORD IN 2006. AND LIKE OUR OTHER WINNERS STEPPED IT UP DURING THE POST SEASON. IN THE STATE TOURNAMENT, HE HAD 2 COMPLETE GAME WINS AND IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME PITCHED THE FINAL 3 INNINGS FOR THE SAVE ALLOWING ONLY 1 BASE-RUNNER. FOR THE SEASON, HE HAD A 2.45 ERA, 64 SO AND ONLY 15 WALKS. HE ALSO HIT .359 AND BECAME THE ONLY BAYLOR PLAYER TO HIT FOR THE CYCLE. 
 
Class AA Player of the Year
Tyler Mathis of Covington     TYLER'S RECORD IS AMAZING. 39 WINS AND 4 LOSES IN 4 YEARS AND IN 2006 HE WON 12 GAMES AND LOST ONLY 2 WITH A ERA OF 0.85 WITH 117 K AND ONLY 10 WALKS. IN ADDITION, HE HIT .441 WITH 40 RBI. HE SIGN A BASEBALL SCHOLARSHIP WITH LOUISVILLE.
 
Class A Player of the Year
Drew Hayes of McKenzie      IN 2006 DREW HAD A 13-2 RECORD WITH A ERA OF .063, 170 STRIKEOUTS IN 99 INNINGS PITCHED. IF THAT WAS ENOUGH, HE HIT .522 WITH 16 DOUBLES, 10 HOME RUNS AND 49 RBI. IN ADDITION TO HIS BASEBALL SKILLS, HE WAS CLASS A BACK MR. FOOTBALL. HE WAS DRAFTED BY THE ARIZONA DIAMONDBACKS BUT CHOSE TO ATTEND BETHEL COLLEGE AND PLAY BOTH FOOTBALL AND BASEBALL.
