Steve Cornelison - "Motlow is always a tough. I think they will be very solid on the mound. They will be explosive at the plate. They are always a tough opponent and I'm sure this year want be any different. To be successful we must be able to keep them in check offen- sively. We must play good defense. We must get better production from the middle of our order. I think this will be a great series. Motlow has a very talented pitching staff and I think it will be a great early test for our guys."

Don Rhoton - "JACKSON HAS COME OUT OF THE SHOOT AT TOP SPEED. BY EVERY INDICATION THEY ARE SOLID IN EVERY AREA. SINCE THEIR FLORIDA TRIP THEY HAVE DOMINATED THEIR OPPONENTS. WITH THIS BEING THE FIRST WEEK-END, THEIR IS LITTLE INFO TO GO ON EXCEPT BOX SCORES. WE ARE SIMPLY NOT READY FOR A SERIES AGAINST THE TOP PICKED TEAM WHO APPARENTLY IS PLAYING WELL ON TOP OF THAT. OUR TEAM MUST TAKE CARE OF OUR OWN BUSINESS. WE MADE 17 ERRORS IN 3 GAMES THIS LAST WEEKEND, SO IT REALLY DOES NOT MATTER WHO WE PLAY IF WE CAN'T DO A BETTER JOB. WE HAVE ALWAYS ENJOYED PLAYING JACKSON, SO HOPEFULLY STEVE WILL TAKE IT EASY ON AN OLD MAN WHO'S DOWN ON HIS LUCK. KEYS FOR MOTLOW - A TOTAL TURN-AROUND DEFEN-SIVELY. TIMELY HITTING WHEN RBI OPPORTUNITIES ARISE AND A FEARLESS ATTITUDE FROM OUR PITCHERS."

Series Highlights - Our guys on the mound did a good job and we got some timely hitting. I'm proud of the way our guys approached the series.

Series Wrap-up - Jackson St did a great job of throwing strikes, walking only 4 batters in the 3 game series. Motlow's defense continued to plague them as they committed 7 errors. The Generals had 7 multi-run scoring innings while Motlow scored more than 1 run in an inning only once. Tony Marbry had an outstanding outing, striking out 10 and giving up one run in 7 innings.

Series Highlights - The pitching was dominating in all three games of
the series. Dustin Blackwell gave up 5 runs early and then fell into a
grove going 8.2 and picking up the win in game one. Kevin Hammons
pitched a complete game the second game of the series giving up one run in
the first inning and shut the door after the first, picking up the win.
Phillip Utley threw a one hit shutout in the third game. For as well
as we swung the bats the first two games, Utley had us off balance and
we couldn't make any adjustments.
