Jim Painter - "Motlow
might have started off slow in the conference but they have more than came along. With this past weekends sweep of Cleveland I would have to say they are playing their best ball of the year so far. Coach Rhoton has done a great job so far this year with the talented crop of freshmen that he brought in and we know they will come to play us hard as they always do. This weekend we have got to do all the little things right. Moving runners over, no lead off/two out walks, no errors. With the way Motlow is playing right now we are going to have to get great pitching from our starters, get them some runs and play defense behind them. Everyone one in the league knows what type off hitting that Motlow has and we are no different. Our pitching will be the key for us this weekend." |
Don Rhoton - "IT IS
ALWAYS A SPECIAL TIME FOR ME TO PLAY COLUMBIA STATE AND COACH PAINTER. THIS
IS USUALLY ABOUT THE TIME OF THE SEASON THAT THEY START PUTTING IT TOGETHER
FOR THE TOURN-AMENT. TWO YEARS AGO THEY CAME INTO OUR PLACE AND SWEPT OUR
SERIES. THIS TIME AROUND WE HOPE TO BE MORE PREPARED. YOU CANNOT STOP
COLUMBIA STATE, YOU CAN ONLY HOPE TO CONTAIN THEM. OUR TEAM HAS TO
CONCENTRATE ON WHAT WE ARE TRYING TO DO. FORGET ABOUT WHO WE ARE PLAYING AND
CONTINUE TO ELIMINATE UNFORCED ERRORS, PLAY MORE AGRESSIVELY, COMPETE AT THE
PLATE AND BY ALL MEANS PLAY BETTER DEFENSIVELY. WE, LIKE ALL THE TEAMS IN
OUR LEAGUE, NEED TO START PREPAR-ING OURSELVES FOR THE TOURNAMENT. AND THIS
CAN START BY BEING MORE FOCUSED IN ALL PHASES OF THE GAME. AS THE SEASON
WINDS DOWN THE MENTAL PART OF THE GAME TAKES OVER MORE AND MORE. WHO IS
READY EACH GAME, EACH PITCH, EACH INNING, AND EACH PITCH. WITH THAT IN MIND,
WHAT DOES MOTLOW NEED TO DO. ITS SIMPLE-BE READY TO PLAY."
