Starters returning : 4  Position players: 4    Pitchers: 2

Outlook by position:

Infield - We feel like our infield should be solid with Coleman still at SS and a couple of transfers contending at 3B. 2B looks like it will be handled by freshman Zach Zarzour and 1B is still being competed for by two freshmen, Tyler Roach and Brady Reed.

Catching- Matt Sorrow and Bryan Lewis both had solid, if not spectacular, falls and Brandon Able has come in at break and we hope he will be able to compete right away behind the dish also.

Outfield- Hopefully, an area of real strength for us as all 3 starters are back from last year's team. Pullen, Herman and Davenport are basically all centerfielders and guys that can really go and track the ball.  All 3 factor in as big hitters for us and will basically be the gas that fuels our offense.

Pitching- We like our staff very much and feel we have a nice blending of stuff and pitchability. Merkling can be very, very good and Aeschlimann has shown at times he can pitch at a high level. Walden and McClure both have outstanding stuff but just need to get more innings under their belt. Some freshmen have a chance to make immediate impacts and we will be counting on them for many quality innings.

Schedule Highlights- We look forward to playing Georgia Perimeter, Gordon College and Gadsden State, as well as the usual difficult conference schedule.

Key to success in '11 - We think the same "keys" are going to be there for success this year or any year. We need to develop that "culture of success" that comes from doing things right on a regular basis and expecting those around you too also. We like the physical makeup of our team but have a long way to go to reach the goals that we set. These guys know that the bar has been raised around here and we are hopeful that they respond to the growing expectations on tis program and the commitment towards getting there.

Starters returning : 4 Position players: 4   Pitchers:

Outlook by position:

Infield - The infield will be anchored by returning 3B Gray Hutchinson who should hold down the position all year and hit in the middle of our order. Shortstop will have two newcomers in Grant Zawadzki and Matt West. Brandon Rader will see time at 2B and 3B and Derek Shugart will start at 2B. 1B will be a rotation between Ryan Mutchnick, Colin Sullivan, and possibly Jaime Harper.

Catching-Will have to be one of the best areas of our team if we are to be successful, have a lot of young arms. Galen Smith who is a transfer from Valdosta State will see the majority of the time and Sophomore returnee Jeff Embree will be the number 2.

Outfield-Trevor Burgess will return in right field after an outstanding freshman season, he will be joined by Cameron Brewster in left and Cody Commons in center. Commons is a great fit for our ballpark in centerfield as he can really run it down. Joe Cardio and Jaime Harper will also see time in the outfield.

Pitching-has to mature very quickly with a lot of young guys. Scott Spears and Matt Lynam are the only returnee's and will be looked upon to contribute heavily in the Spring. Lee Transfer Jaime Harper and Iowa Western transfer Alex Moore will also have to step up and fill big shoes. Ross Spurgeon, Cookeville, could push to be on the weekend rotation but will probably start mid week. Tanner Thompson, Landon Snyder, Oakley Fox, Jared Burton, Hunter Hammond, and Brett Hawkins will also be big contributors

Schedule Highlights- Non-conference schedule includes USC-Sumter, Vincennes University, Georgia Perimeter, and Wallace State Hanceville.

Key to success in '10 - Our keys to success will be a solid mix of offense, defense, and pitching. Have a feeling the new bats are going to be a huge difference and the way the conference has played over the last few years will change drastically. The long ball will not be as big of a threat and therefore pitching and defense will have to take over. The team that wins our conference this year will be the team that walks the least and gives up the fewest free bases. For us to be successful we have to be that team.

Starters returning : 5  Position players: 8   Pitchers: 10

Outlook by position:

Infield - We return three starters and have added quality freshman that will push to start.

Catching- We will be led by a sophomore who had a great fall swinging the bat.

Outfield- Two returning starters who stole fifty bases between them. Mix in two freshman that can really run and you have a potentially exciting bunch out there.

Pitching- We are returning ten pitchers. Seven of which had twelve-plus appearances. With the addition of two hard throwing transfers and solid crop of freshman, we should be very deep on the mound.

Schedule Highlights-  We will continue to play the best teams out of North Alabama along with adding Georgia strong-arm, Gordan College.

Key to success in '10 - Team chemistry will play a vital role in us reaching our potential. No matter how the line-up is written, several hard working, talented players will be sitting. Our team competed in 19, one-run ballgames last season. I hope that we can take all that experience and parlay it into a successful year.

Starters returning :  Position players:3    Pitchers: 3

Outlook by position:

Infield - We should once again be very solid fundamentally.  We are young but I feel like we are better defensively than we were last year.

Catching-  We return both Bellou and Seaton, both of which are solid catch and throw guys.

Outfield- Weaver and Patterson are returners and have a lot of experience.  We have a few freshman that have relly improved and will certainly be expected to contribute.

Pitching-  I feel like this group of guys will compete for us.  With the new bats, it will be important to pound the strike zone and limit walks.

Schedule Highlights- Three Rivers, John A. Logan, and Meramec are all solid non-conference opponents.  Every weekend is will be a huge challenge for us.

Key to success in '11 - Staying healthy is going to be a major factor for us.  We must do the little things it takes to win.

Starters returning :  Position players: 5   Pitchers: 4

Outlook by position:

Infield - Based on our play in the Fall, I am excited about our chance to have a good defensive team. We got solid play all Fall from 2b Curt Fuqua and SS Dalton Martinez and Jesse Gavigan. Camron Sherwood settled in a third and has shown he can play the position. John Wills, Austin Hiatt, and Tyree Jeffries will all see time at 1st and DH.

Catching- Anthony Difelice and Kane Barrow will split time behind the plate. Both are solid defensively and did a good job this fall of controlling the running game.

Outfield- We have a very talented group of outfielders. KJ Roberts will be the anchor in centerfield. KJ had a solid fall and has adjusted to the college game well. Fellow freshman Chris Jeffries and Murphy Wilson will see significant time in the outfield. Both had solid fall seasons. Cheyenne Von Kanel, Brayden Baxter, and Brian Ferrell add power to our outfield and will see significant time.

Pitching- We will be lead on the mound by a solid group of sophomore arms. Hunter Marbry, Daniel Wallace, Derek Long, Cole McWhirter and Russell Hardwick all saw significant innings last year and will be counted on heavily this spring. Freshman Alex Shoulders, Garrett Perry, and several others will have a chance to see significant innings.

Schedule Highlights- Non conference home games against Wabash Valley, Rend Lake and Itawamba. Every conference weekend is big.

Key to success in '10 - Obviously the way we pitch and play defense will determine our consistency. I feel like we will have the ability to score alot of runs we just need to stop the other team from doing the same.

Starters returning :  Position players: 6   Pitchers: 5

Outlook by position:

Infield -  We will have a veteran infield with several Freshman right on their heels. We have had a strong competition at several positions this fall and it has really helped us to improve individually. I expect this our infield and Catching to be a staple for us.

Outfield- We lost 2 outfielders from last year but have several guys that can do the job. It has been an adjustment with these new bats, especially adjusting to the sound of the ball coming off the bats. We have a lot of talent out in the outfield though and will continue to progress.

Pitching-  We have a lot of pitchers that can compete for us. It will be interesting to see how it turns out with so many guys in the mix.

Schedule Highlights- Along with one of the toughest conferences in the country we have numerous non conference opponents that will be tough including teams like Wallace State, Vincennes, and Calhoun among others.

Key to success in '10 - We must improve individually at every position every day. Never get satisfied with what you have accomplished and never give in to mediocrity. If we can do this, we will be a very tough team.

Outlook by position:

Infield - Infield play should be improved from years past. We are expecting better defensive play, especially in the middle.

Catching-  Roane State should have a solid catching rotation. All our catchers are freshmen, but have shown great improvement through the fall.

Outfield-  The outfield is probably our most experienced area. Our projected starters in the outfield are all sophomores. They are followed closely by an excellent group of true freshmen who are pushing hard to get their chance.

Pitching-  Pitching for Roane State is very young and inexperienced. We feel we have some very good talent on the mound, but they will have to grow up quick to be effective.

Infield -Our infield is probably the most improved area on our baseball team! Better arms and better gloves will give our baseball team a chance on a everyday basis.

Catching-Both first year catchers who have done a awesome job work with our pitchers and their confidence! After these guys get about 10 or 15 games under their belt they will be a exciting group!

Outfield-Good speed and good arms these are players who work their tales off in the outfield.

Pitching-Got to throw strikes!!!!!! Very young and very untested will only get better with experience!!!!

Key to success in '10 - We have basicly replaced a entire roster from last year! The one thing I am proud of with this team is they work their butts off everyday! Coach Cordells work with these guys in the weight room has improved our team in all areas!! This is the best group of men I have had since I have been here! The level of work these guys have done proved one thing WE MAY GET BEAT! BUT IT WILL NOT BE BECAUSE WE QUIT!!!!

Outlook by position:

Infield -  This area is much improved defensively and from an athlete standpoint.  We will need to be better in this area than we have in the past few years if we are going to be where we want to be.

Catching-This will be the area that we must stay healthy .  We feel that it can definitely be a strong point for us but if we have an injury it will definitely hurt us.

Outfield-We will be very good defensively in the outfield this time.  We did lose our starting rightfielder to a torn ACL but we feel like we are deep enough to overcome it.

Pitching-This will be the deepest and most talented pitching staff that we've had in quite some time.  The big concern with this staff is its youth.  As we all know when you are throwing Freshman you never know what you are going to get.

Schedule Highlights-Wallace, NW Shoals and the best Conference Schedule in the Country.

Key to success in '10 -The biggest key for us is going to be growing up and doing it in a hurry.  We have got to get off to a good start this year.  We have enjoyed some great tournament runs in the past 6 or 7 years but it is not something you want to hang your hat on.  Our pitching must carry this team because I don't think that we are going to be as offensive oriented as we have the past few years.  We are looking forward to this season and looking forward to the development of our young guys.

Two of them, Chris Costantino and Cody Geyer, are expected to contribute a great deal on the mound. Andrew Allen played tremendous this fall both defensively and offensively. Freshmen Kendell Keeton and Daniel Tucker will both get time at SS.

Catching- Freshmen Michael Davis and Ryan Shelton will split time here. Catcher may be the toughest position on the field for a college freshman, and both showed that this fall. Both made improvements to their overall game though and they are a huge key for us to be successful this season.

Outfield- Eastern Kentucky signee, Shaun Ball, will move to CF after being an All-Conference 2nd baseman last year for us. Ball was great out there this fall and we expect him to be a top of the order hitter for us. North Carolina signee, Cody Stubbs, will man left field and we expect him to be a huge presence in our lineup. Freshmen Lance Jarreld and Jake Ellison will both see time in RF, as will recent LSU transfer Marcus Davis. Davis may also see time at 1B and DH.

Pitching- Kentucky signee, Shane Grimm, returns after going 7-0 for us as a freshman. Chris Costantino is also expected to be in the weekend rotation, where he was last year before suffering a torn spleen which cost him his season. Transfer Cody Poarch is also expected to serve in a weekend role. We could have a very deep staff this season with England Smith, Josh Bryant, Ole Miss transfer Jordan Cooper, and Clemson transfer Dale Innes serving big roles for us as well. Cody Geyer is expected to come off 2nd base in the closers role as well.

Schedule Highlights- We have a very challenging non-conference schedule that includes Chipola(FL), San Jacinto(TX), Southern Nevada(NV), Louisburg(NC), Wabash(IL), Catawba Valley(NC), and Spartanburg Methodist(SC). As tough as these games are, they probably aren't as challenging as our weekend games in the TCCAA, as those are dog-fights every weekend.

Key to success in '11 - We have basically a whole new team this year with very little returning experience. Our key will be how quickly our freshmen can mature and learn to play at the college level. This fall was an eye-opener for most of them, but hopefully it was a valuable experience for them as well. Last season our depth was a bigger killer for us, as we only had 9 position players by the end of the year. We feel we solved this problem as we have much more depth of talented players this year. The key will be if they can put that talent together and work hard enough to compete at the college level.
