Team Previews

Hardin Co.       13aaa          22-10                     1/25

The 2010 Tigers return five starters and five seniors. Justin Daniel and Joe Greer will more than likely go into the season as our #1 & #2 guys on the mound. Daniel has progressively gotten better on the mound, and should give us a chance every time he goes out there. Greer has been our closer for two years, but will be asked to move into a starting role this year unless someone else emerges as our #2. He will also play shortstop where he only made four errors as a junior. Senior Michael Davis, a Walters St. commitment, will return behind the plate for the Tigers.  Davis hit .466 last year with 12 hr and 36 rbi, and played well on the Junior Sunbelt team this past summer. Junior Walker Vaughn, who hit .387 with 4 hr and 22 rbi last season should find his way back into the leadoff spot for the Tigers, and will make the move from right field to centerfield. Sophomore Barker Burnham who hit .339 with 3 hr should hit in the four spot for the Tigers if he is back from a severe ankle injury that he suffered during football season. Seniors Mason Tidwell and David Morton will be asked to step into major roles this year and need to produce for us to be successful.  Dakota Lowe is a sophomore who has unmatched work ethic in our program and it should pay dividends for him this year. Lowe is a fantastic leader and will be counted on to produce in the Tiger infield. Freshman Jordan Lambert is a left handed hitter who can swing it.  He should find himself in the lineup if he continues to work hard and mature.

Preview:

2008 W -6   L-8
Starters returning :5  Position players:4    Pitchers:1

Outlook by position:

Infield -Strong around the infield with good depth at every position.  We expect good play from incoming Freshmen at 1st and 2nd base.
Catching-Limited experience at catcher with a Jr. and Fr.
Outfield-Excellent speed in the outfield along with good throwing arms and dependable hitting.
Pitching-If young players develop as expected, the pitching should be very strong.  New players from middle school are throwing 75 mph now.  Expect to see an improvement as season progresses.
Schedule Highlights-Critical games are with the Shelby County schools, Germantown, Houston, and Collierville.  Our overall team strength can be measured by how well we compete with these three schools. Other highlight games include a home and home with Covington High School and single games with Memphis University School, Cordova High School, and Memphis Central High School.
Key to success in '10 - If the pitching develops Ridgeway H.S. will have a strong team. The team had a very limited schedule in 2009.  With new coaches and a 30 game schedule, the team should progress well during the 2010 season.
