Team Previews Gallatin 26-14 12/4/07 001
www.eteamz.com/gallatinbaseball The
Green Wave return several players who gained key experience in 2007.
Antonio Butler is a D1 talent being recruited by Vanderbilt, Kentucky, and
UAB among others. Ross Hollins and Ryan Critchelow are Juniors who made
the TBCA Sophomore team. Hollins has great athleticism, and Critchelow is
a talented two-way player for the Wave. Todd has good power potential at
the plate, and fellow Senior Josh Green will return as a starter in the
Gallatin outfield. Blumenthal has great overall ability, and is already a
force defensively. Sophomore Tyler Scott has the potential to be an
outstanding prospect, and his bat should settle into the middle of the
lineup. Getting Lewis into the lineup after basketball season will be a
big boost. Senior Jordan Gooch looks to take 2b as 3 year starter Zak
Hargett moved on to the college ranks.
Other position players who could
figure in the mix are Junior infielders Josh Prior and Cody Larriviere.
Mike Davis is a JR 3B who will provide some depth. Sophomores Kaleb
Hammock and Joey Williams are solid players Gallatin will return some key hurlers from 2007, but
must find a To be successful this year we..".must find consistency
in the pitching staff. We return some key guys, but we need to find a
couple of guys to take control of the staff. We return a lot of
"athletes", and speed will again be a strength. I like the offensive
potential, and we have a ton of speed and arms on defense. If Butler plays
at his expected level at SS, we could be as good as anyone up the middle.
I think this team needs to get tougher, and we will take care of that this
Winter. I also think we need to go about our business with more emotion
and a sense of urgency. Athleticism goes only so far... I expect this team
to take the next step and improve even more from last season. That will be
a tough task in our District.", said Coach Hunt. Mt. Juliet 34-12 12/5/07 004 sport-baseball.asp
We have most of our everyday
starters returning from last year. We should be very exciting
offensively and defensively. We should have plenty of power Hendersonville 19-19
12/21/07 011 1B - Kendall Snyder (JR) RHP - Brandon Hall (JR) We were young in 2007 and we will be young again in 2008 with only two seniors. We should be solid offensively and defensively. We do have to replace a catcher and a third baseman from last year. Our pitchers will have to throw strikes and keep us in games to give our offense a chance to win them late. All our pitching is unproven especially against the competition we will face in district 9AAA. We have a chance to be a solid squad but it will depend on the kids work habits and building confidence. Wilson Central 9-30 1/10/08 30 Wildcats will return 7 starters form last year's squad.
The Wildcats hope the experience gained from last year's dissapointing
year will help them compete in a very tough District 9AAA. We will
be led by Seniors Matt Wood, Jessie Snodgrass, Nolan Gray, and Tyler
Pumphrey. 2008 projected line-up is as follows: "The development of the pitching staff will be a big
part of this teams success. We only have 2 starters with experience.
The staff will have to mature quickly. This team doesn't have any
superstars. If we play together we can be very competitive," said
Coach Ford. Beech 27-7 2/12/08 74 The 2008 Bucs will be in somewhat of a rebuilding mode
after grad-uating 21 players over the past two years. A lot of
inexperienced players will have to step in and play. The only
returnee is Matthew Franklin, who hit .380, with 16 rbi's, and a .375 ave.
with runners in Smyrna 33-8 2/26/08 85 The Bulldogs return 8 seniors with 7 of those coming
into 2008 with some varsity experience over the last 2 years. Senior Sonny
Gray is the top returnee with a .461 BA, 10 HR and 43 RBI and will play SS
when not on the mound. Junior Austin Towne hit 14 2B and a .333 BA, he
should play 3B and C. Seniors Randy Tharpe at 2B and Ryan Swader behind
the plate played everyday last year on a team that went 33 and 8 making it
to the State Tournament. Seniors Casey Blount in the OF, Kelly Thomason at
1B and Zach Gallaher at 3B have seen quality Next School |

significant varsity time last season. The team will have more
leadership this season as a result. The offense will be led by
Junior Left Fielder/Pitcher Johnny Newsom. Newsom returns for his
third season as an Eagles Starter. He looks to add to his
outstanding numbers (.425 BA, 12HR, 38 RBI, 12 SB). Senior Jerramie
Medlen will see time at both Catcher and SS. He will be a leader on
the field, and will continue to hit in the middle of the order.
Juniors Steven Richardson, and Jaurice White will return to the outfield.
White adds power to the lineup, while Richardson adds excellent defense
and speed. Senior Chris Deason will see time at 1B/DH, and also add power
to the lineup. Joseph Porter will be the utility man this year spending
time in the outfield along with first and third. Dustin Hunter will
start at second base, where he saw a lot of Henry Co. 12-19 1/21/08 47 The Patriots should have a battle at all positions
in the field. Competition will help push the players and the lineup
will change frequently until the best eight separate themselves.
Listed below are some possibilities at each position:
