After graduating 8 seniors from the 2011 squad, the 2012 Cougars will turn to new faces to fill some voids in the lineup. We will look for leadership from our 4 return-ing starters. Senior Ivey Starling will wear many hats this year. He will see time at SS and C this year and will also need to serve the role of the team's ace pitcher. He will sit in the middle of the lineup, alongside Junior Kyle Howard. Kyle returns from a productive Sophomore season offensively, in which he lead the team in many categories. He will see time at 1B, 3B, and P as well.   Our other returning starters are Junior Lucas Smith and Senior Heath Bowman. Bowman platooned RF for the Cougars last season, and we will look to him for some offensive assistance this year. Smith returns from a great year behind the plate, and also helped the team play some small ball from the 2 hole. On the mound, we will look to Sr-Ivey Starling, So-Britt Roberts, Jr-Kyle Howard, and Jr-Lawson Pitts for the majority of the team's varsity innings. In the infield, competing for spots will be Jr-Lawson Pitts, Sr-Steven Barker, So-Britt Roberts, Jr-Joe Warner, and So-Phillip Bonabi. In the OF, Jr-Caleb Gibson, Jr-Taylor Sanders, and So-Britt Roberts will be fighting for a spot.  It will be a preseason in which there will be a lot of pieces of the puzzle unplaced.  Our freshman class has a good core of talent. They are working hard, competing, and we are looking forward to a great season.
