TBCA Announces Mookie Betts as Title

Sponsor of - The Mr. Baseball Award

The Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association is proud to announce a historic partnership with Mookie Betts, who will serve as title sponsor of the organization’s most prestigious honor.

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. — The Tennessee Baseball Coaches Association (TBCA) is proud to announce a historic partnership with Mookie Betts, who will serve as the title sponsor of the organization’s most prestigious honor, the Mr. Baseball Award.

Effective immediately, the award will be renamed the Mookie Betts Mr. Baseball Award, recognizing Betts — a Tennessee native and one of the greatest players to ever take the field.

Betts, a standout at John Overton High School in Nashville, made an early impact in Tennessee baseball as a key contributor for Team Tennessee in the TBCA Junior Sunbelt Series. He has since built a remarkable Major League Baseball career, highlighted by an American League Most Valuable Player Award, multiple MLB All-Star selections, multiple Gold Glove and Silver Slugger Awards, and World Series championships.

The annual awards ceremony will once again be held on May 19 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, bringing together the top high school baseball players from across the state.

As part of this partnership, the Mookie Betts 50/50 Foundation will contribute to scholarships and provide additional opportunities and benefits for student-athletes.

“It is an honor to name the award for the top baseball player in the state of Tennessee after the top baseball player ever to play in the state of Tennessee. The TBCA is excited and honored to be able to call this award the Mookie Betts Mr. Baseball Award.”
